The Kitchen Room update is a full mini-game inside of Disney Coloring World's Magic Kingdom playset. I worked with the product manager to design the game, fashioning it after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s cooking system. The same ingredients, added to a pot in different configurations, create a large variety of dishes. I assembled the room out of commissioned assets, and then began to design and implement the cooking flow with programmed animations and character interactions. I responded to feedback from the Disney approval team to ensure it met their qualifications. I am particularly proud of the cleaning minigame as an inversion of the typical coloring book mechanic that players are familiar with. As you cook, the floor gets dirty, and players must “erase” the mess on the floor.
